Comments:  Fear, mutilation and rape are common tools of war by militia in Congo and many other countries in Central Africa. Many of the perpetrators of the Rwandan Genocide fled into Congo, they consisted of Hutu fighters and Rwandan soldiers. After years in exile they reorganized into the FDLR, known as the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda. They have spread throughout Eastern Congo and have taken refuge in the large national parks. The Congolese people who dwell near the parks have had their villages attacked by these militia, thousands of men and boys have been tortured, mutilated and killed in attacks. Women and children, some as young as five have been raped and mutilated at the hands of militia.
